SACRAMENTO (KGO) -- The state attorney general's office has put five California retailers on notice that they're selling jewelry with high amounts of lead in violation of state law.

Testing done by the Center for Environmental Health found a bracelet from Bloomingdale's was more than 67 percent lead. The metal part of two different bracelets sold by Aeropostale contained more than 30 percent lead, and so did another sold by CVS/Longs.

This is the 17th time CEH has found jewelry sold by longs in non- compliance with state law.

Two more pieces of jewelry at Lane Bryant also contain high lead amounts.

Lead in jewelry can expose pregnant woman and children to health hazards.

ABC7 contacted the retailers for response and so far have only heard back from CVS Pharmacy which says it issued a recall as soon as this was brought to its attention. The company says it is committed to being in compliance with California law.
