Where Your Senators Stand On Chemical Reform

There is a new bill making its way through the Senate that endeavors to fix what’s broken about our 40-year old chemical safety law. Unfortunately, the bill prioritizes business interests over the health and safety of the American people. This proposal would simultaneously preempt state laws that regulate chemicals, consolidate authority with the EPA, and then saddle the agency with hoops to jump through, loopholes and legal battlefields to navigate…all while starving the EPA of the necessary funds to do the job. CEH’s position is that it’s essentially a fake reform bill – a business strategy in disguise (it was written in part by the chemical industry itself!).

Some Senators are starting to see the light and siding with the vast majority of environmental groups who oppose it. But still others are making up their minds. YOUR SENATOR NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU. Call (202) 224-3121, ask for you Senator’s office, and then ask them to oppose the Vitter/Udall chemical reform bill currently being discussed.
