Say No to Cancer-Causing Strawberry Pesticide!

You may remember last May when many of you (actually over 50,000 people around the state) helped us tell Governor Schwarzenegger that we didn’t want the dangerous pesticide methyl iodide approved for use in California. The primary use of this cancer-causing chemical will be to grow strawberries, despite the large, flourishing organic strawberry industry in California which grows delicious strawberries without using of this poison. See our last article on this issue for details about the health problems caused by methyl iodide.

Your outrage about this chemical has successfully kept California regulators from finalizing their approval of methyl iodide. They’re still working on it though, and insist that the decision will be made by the end of the year.

So we’re asking for your help again. Today there are news conferences around the state urging Governor-elect Brown to deny methyl iodide’s approval. We’re also asking him to revoke the approval if the current administration acts before the end of the year as promised. You can help by signing our petition letter to Governor Brown–it’s easy and it only takes 30 seconds!

Thanks!
